History
The building was built in 1953 by members of the community. It was occupied by "Les Filles de Jesus". It was purchased in November of 1971 by Blanche and Raymond Gaudet to be used as a nursing home. January 1st, 1972, Maison au Coucher du Soleil officially opened its doors to provide 24 hour nursing and personal care for our dependent population, with as close to a home like environment as possible.
There have been many changes throughout the years. This facility is licensed for 24 permanent beds and 1 respite bed. In 1992, two small option programs accommodating 6 clients were added to the organization and in September of 1999, the organization was expanded to serve 1 client in a supervised apartment. Maison au Coucher du Soleil is currently a limited enterprise and employs approximately 30 people.
